COMING TO GET YA Oh, oh, what a day, Well you know when at first you texted 50 thousand times, you kinda scared, scared me away, They just kept & kept & kept & kept & kept, kept coming, ‘Jesus’, I’d pray, ‘steady on, steady on, it’s only me, I’m not particularly special’, Ah but you grew on me, yes you did, Until today, and what can I say? Well you sure as hell knocked me for 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, Led me astray?, well yes! As it happens! What, what in the name of God were ya thinking? Obviously there’s nowhere we can go from here.. ya fool, And so this is goodbye, goodbye.. This is goodbye, goodbye.. O…..nly joking☺ I’m a-coming (x3) to get ya, Don’t you move a muscle coz you know that I’m quick quick quick, I’m a-coming (x2) to get ya, Don’t move an inch, don’t move an inch coz (x2) DON’T MOVE AN INCH! Coz I’m a-coming (x3) to get ya, Coming, I’m a-coming (x2) to get ya, coming I’m a-coming (x2) to get ya. No, no this is wrong, I’m not a-coming, not a-coming, I’m a-going, I’m a-going, I’m a-gone, Goodbye, and so long, Well everybody says, everybody says that you’re no, no good for me, And I agree, wholeheartedly, But I can’t do this on my own, I need some help. And so I look to the sun, but the sun reminds me of the yellow of your kitchen wall, So I look to the stars, but the stars remind me of the twinkle twinkle of your eyes, So I look to God, I look to God, I look to God, and I say ‘Lord God, are ya listening to me?.. probably not.. ah well.. Chorus

Monster 03:15
MONSTER What have I done? I’ve created a monster (x2) When they all told me you were nuts, I said you were eccentric, They said ‘she’s nuts’, ‘she’s just eccentric’, ‘she’s nuts’, ‘she’s just eccentric’, that’s what I said. What have I done? I’ve created a monster, Lord knows I never meant to, But that’s not much good now, is it? Good good Lord, I got got that wrong, Shame on me, sh-sh-shame on me, what have I done? Good Lord, I got that so wrong, Shame on me. What have I done? I’ve created a monster (x2) Well I was only being nice, When I said you needed confidence, At the time it just seemed like the right thing to say, On reflection, you don’t need confidence, Coz at this present moment in time, Well you’re bordering on insufferable, oh Lord! Chorus What have I done? I’ve created a monster (x2) Well how was I supposed to know, That behind that exterior, That sweet, sweet, smiling, doe-eyed exterior, That you were nuts, not just eccentric no nuts, not just eccentric no nuts, not just eccentric no nuts, not just eccentric no nuts, not just eccentric no nuts, not just eccentric no no no no no no no no no no no no no nooo! Chorus (x2) What have I done? I’ve created a monster (x4)

HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE ME? Turn your face to me, don’t go to sleep yet, Don’t you want to know how the streetlamp lights your skin, And turns you to a golden balmy evening in September, years and years before I met you, my love. Turn your face to me, look in my eyes, Can’t you see wildflowers blossom, they blossom for you, A thousand different colours for the thousand ways I love you, and the thousand ways you break my heart.. How much do you want me? Your lips to me taste like cherries, like peaches, like raspberries, sweet, But they have so much to say, so much I don’t want to know, Softly, softly, whisper to me low, And when you go, say you won’t be long, love, say you won’t be long, For I’ll die, I’ll die here alone.. And how much will you miss me then? How much will you miss me? So come with me now, we’ll steal away tonight, I know a place where we can dance ’cross the rooftops, Where we can sing to the moonlight, Where we can lay down, on a bed of red crimson clover, And sleep, sleep like lovers.. How much do you love me?

YOU COMPARE HER TO A ROSE You compare her to a rose, but she’s not into that, So you compare her to the starriest starry night, but she’s not into that either, You’re going to have to change tack, if you want to hold onto this one, So you tell her she’s stupid, and that seems to do the trick, And oh, how the hours, how the days, how the nights, roll by so easily, How the weeks, how the months, how the years, roll by so easily, When you’re in love.. And she, she’s in love.. isn’t that right? You compare her to a rose, she says your kiss is soft as silk, You compare her to the starriest starry night, She says that you’re her sun and her moon And how the hours, how the days, how the nights, roll by so easily, How the weeks, how the months, how the years, roll by so easily, When you’re in love.. And she, she’s in love… isn’t that right?

about

Recorded over a frosty weekend in February, “On love.. and other murder mysteries” (2013) sees Irish musician, Ailie Blunnie, tentatively dip her toes into the singer-songwriter world. From gently playful tracks like ‘Coming To Get Ya’, and ‘Monster’, to the delicately serene ‘How much do you love me?’, its five songs him and haw, pull and tug, and mull and muse over the best and worst in 20-something life and love.

"Describe the Carrick-on-Shannon songwriter as a novelty at your peril [...]; while songs like the cabaret-pop lilt of Coming to Get Ya and Monster are positively packed with idiosyncrasies, there is a tenderness and beauty to You Compare Her to a Rose, that lends weight to her sweet-natured compositions." (Lauren Murphy, Irish Times)
